Dr. FreedmanWhen patients feel that their heads are spinning upon repositioning their heads or getting up from a lying position, it is often due to a condition known as “benign paroxysmal positional vertigo” (BPPV). This common disorder of the inner ear’s vestibular (balance) system occurs when calcium crystals that normally reside in the three semi-circular canals of the inner ear become dislodged. Instead of moving as they normally would to signal the brain to balance the body properly, they send a false signal to the brain that causes “vertigo” (dizziness).

Fortunately, many chiropractors are versed in a treatment called the “Epley manoeuvre,” which involves guiding the head through a series of controlled movements that reposition the loose crystals and relieve dizziness. We have everything you need to make your life easier as you begin your vertigo treatment plan.

At Family Practice of Chiropractic, you’ll find an experienced and helpful staff of health care professionals dedicated to serving your health care needs. We’re located at 112 McGrath Hwy., Quincy. Please call 617.472.4220 to schedule an appointment. If your problem is a chiropractic condition, we offer you exceptional service.

P.S. The Epley and similar Semont maneuvers often improve (or cure) benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) with only one treatment.
