Heel pain involving inflammation of the fibrous band of tissue (plantar fascia) that runs from the heel at the bottom of the foot is called “plantar fasciitis.” The painful condition can be caused by inadequate footwear that leads to improper pronation, or it may result from “compensation,” which involves moving the body in a new way in order to avoid pain. For example, plantar fasciitis may result from compensation for chronic Achilles tendonitis, and persistent plantar fasciitis pain may cause a shift in weight that throws the body out of alignment, leading to further complications.
The good news is that the chiropractor can identify the cause of the inflammation and prevent it from leading to additional problems. There are amazingly twenty six bones in the foot, each and every one capable of causing foot pain!
