Voice For Health – Don’t Get Frozen Out

Dr. Freedman“Adhesive capsulitis” (commonly known as “frozen shoulder”) occurs when the capsule of connective tissue surrounding the shoulder joint develops chronic inflammation, thickens, and tightens. Symptoms include gradual pain when moving the shoulder followed by increased stiffness that limits range of motion. Most cases of frozen shoulder follow a specific pattern. First, there is an acute phase that is characterized by significant pain and functional impairment. This is followed by a progressive stiffening phase as shoulder motion worsens. The shoulder joint may become so tight and stiff that it is nearly impossible to carry out simple movements, such as simply raising the arm. Treatment consisting of gentle stretching exercises and manipulation of the shoulder joint helps get the shoulder moving again.

Instead of covering up your symptoms with drugs, at FAMILY PRACTICE OF CHIROPRACTIC, we will help determine if your health problem, such as frozen shoulder, can be helped through gentle chiropractic care – without drugs or surgery. Call us at 617.472.4220 to schedule an appointment. We’re located at 112 McGrath Hwy., Quincy, where you will be fully educated as to what is happening to you and how we can help. If you’re suffering from pain, try a safe, effective alternative: chiropractic care. We have the services you require. We are able to adjust patients sitting, standing, or lying down to accommodate any level of discomfort.

P.S. While the cause of frozen shoulder is not exactly known, patients with diabetes, Parkinson’s disease, cardiovascular disease, and thyroid disorders seem to be at greater risk.
