While there is a good amount of research showing that chiropractic treatment provides a safe and effective method for dealing with spine-related issues, some researchers wanted to know if chiropractic is as safe for elderly patients as it is for younger patients. To find out, they studied data involving Medicare B patients who visited their physicians for a neuromusculoskeletal issue and then evaluated their risk of injury seven days post-treatment. They found that seniors who received chiropractic care had a 76 percent lower rate of injury within seven days of treatment compared to older patients who met with their primary physicians to address a neuromusculoskeletal complaint. Chiropractors excel in assessing the appropriateness of treatment.
