Dr. FreedmanThe spine curvature disorder “lordosis” is characterized by excess inward curvature of the lower back. As a result, when looking at people with lordosis from the side, their lower backs form a defined “C” shape and they appear to be sticking out their stomachs and buttocks. This abnormal curvature of the spine can lead to excess pressure being exerted on the spine, which leads to pain. While lordosis can appear in childhood (“benign juvenile lordosis”) without any identifiable cause, it can also affect people of any age for reasons that include poor posture, obesity, osteoporosis, intervertebral disc disorder, and kyphosis (excessive outward curvature at the mid-back), among others. Treating underlying causes helps reduce associated pain, muscle spasms, tingling, or numbness.

Doctors of Chiropractic are not only trained in problems dealing with the spine, but we are also formally educated in clinical examination and diagnosis of the entire human body. Through the use of conservative, nonsurgical, drug-free care, FAMILY PRACTICE OF CHIROPRACTIC provides chiropractic treatment from acute symptomatic relief to wellness care. Call 617.472.4220 to schedule an appointment. You have nothing to lose – and vibrant health to gain. We’re located at 112 McGrath Hwy., Quincy. We are able to adjust patients sitting, standing, or lying down to accommodate any level of discomfort.

P.S. If left untreated, lordosis (also known as “swayback”) can lead to compensatory mechanisms that may limit flexibility and mobility.
