Every golfer strives to make solid contact with the ball. Because the grip of the hand is the body’s only connection to the club, wrist action is a critical part of the game. However, the repetitive motions of golf and the high speed of the typical golf swing place the wrists at high risk for injury. The most common golf-related wrist injury is “tendonitis,” or swelling of the tendons responsible for wrist movement. Wrist tendonitis is characterized by localized pain in the wrist muscles and tendons, as well as occasional swelling and “crepitus” (a creaking, grinding sensation that occurs when the wrist is flexed). To prevent most injuries associated with golfing, including back pain, regular chiropractic treatment is recommended.
Golfers are increasingly finding chiropractic care to be a valuable tool to help them deal with back injuries. FAMILY PRACTICE OF CHIROPRACTIC is dedicated to helping everyone achieve their natural wellness objectives. We accomplish this goal by combining skill and experience that spans the entire chiropractic wellness spectrum. To schedule an appointment for chiropractic care, please call 617-472-4220. We are located at 112 McGrath Hwy., Quincy.
P.S. Regardless of which grip a golfer uses (overlapping, interlocking, or ten-fingered), proper wrist flexibility during a swing requires that both hands be in parallel alignment with the palms facing one another along the target line.
