Dr. FreedmanAccording to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, nearly one out of two people may develop symptomatic knee osteoarthritis by age 85. Not only is knee osteoarthritis becoming more prevalent, but it is striking Americans at a younger age. By 2020, it is estimated that approximately 6.5 million Americans between 35 and 84 will be diagnosed with the condition, and the average age of diagnosis will have fallen from 72 to 55. If there is any good news to report, it is that chiropractic treatment and massage therapy have been linked with better knee function in patients experiencing this problem. Research indicates that chiropractic adjustments improve mobility and decrease clicking and grinding sensations among people with knee osteoarthritis.

A chiropractor’s role in treating patients with knee osteoarthritis is to minimize disability in mild to moderate cases. The chiropractor will also discuss options with patients whose degenerative changes have reached a stage at which more invasive therapy is necessary to preserve optimum quality of life. To schedule an appointment please call FAMILY PRACTICE OF CHIROPRACTIC at 617-472-4220. Our practice is located at 112 McGrath Hwy., Quincy.

P.S. Two out of every three obese individuals may develop symptomatic knee osteoarthritis in their lifetimes.
