Dr. FreedmanAutomobile crashes are the leading cause of mid-back (thoracic) and low back (lumbar) spine injuries. Moreover, an analysis of 4,572 crash-injury patients over a 15-year period reveals a difference between the injuries sustained by those who used a two-point belted seat belt and others who were strapped into three-point belted seat belts. Those wearing the three-point seat belts were found to be more than three times more likely to have fractures of the spine than those wearing the two-point seat belts. On the other hand, those wearing two-point belted seat belts mostly sustained flexion-distraction injuries (with their heads moving towards their knees during the crash). Seat belts may reduce the severity of spine injuries, but they cannot eliminate them altogether.

Chiropractic is a health care profession that focuses on disorders of the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system, and the effects of these disorders on general health. Chiropractic care is used most often to treat neuro-musculoskeletal complaints, including but not limited to back pain, neck pain, pain in the joints, and headaches. To schedule an appointment, please call FAMILY PRACTICE OF CHIROPRACTIC at 617- 472-4220. Our practice is located at 112 McGrath Hwy., Quincy.

P.S. By wearing seat belts and buckling children into age- and size-appropriate car seats and booster seats, people can reduce the risk of serious injury and death by half.
