Dr. Freedman“Facet joint syndrome” is inflammation of the connections between the bones of the spine (vertebrae) that provide the spinal column with flexibility. Aside from allowing the spine to bend and rotate, they also prevent the back from slipping too far forward or twisting without limits. When these joints become swollen due to osteoarthritis or injury, it can lead to pain in the neck and may even cause headaches and difficulty moving. If the affected joints are in the back, pain may arise in the lower back, buttocks, or thighs when bending backward and rotating. The goal of chiropractic treatment is to alleviate pain by identifying the dysfunctional joints and unlocking them, which is accomplished with gentle and precise manipulation.

People who suffer from this problem typically complain that they walk in a hunched over position, and some complain that they have to turn their entire body to look over to the right or left. At FAMILY PRACTICE OF CHIROPRACTIC, we can help you evaluate your situation and decide together what procedure is right for you. You can trust the expertise we provide at 112 McGrath Hwy., Quincy. Now is the time to call 617.472.4220 to schedule an appointment. We offer computerized spinal scans.

P.S. Because facet joint syndrome may recur, periodic check-ups are recommended.
